At about 92 km from Nagpur and 195 km from Jabalpur, the Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh comprises the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary and the Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park. It sprawls over 758 sq km and is abundant in wildlife.

We visited Pench in February though summer months are best suited to spot more wildlife, including tiger. Provided one can tolerate the Nagpur heat! Quite a few resorts are available near the Reserve. We stayed in the Maharashtra side and visited the MP side for an early morning safari.

We spotted more wildlife here than in Pench Maharashtra. Glimpses from our safari …

It was quite chilly in the morning

Spotted deer

Four-horned antelope

Scratches by tiger

A sexy ghost tree

Warning calls by deer made everyone alert and expectant, but no luck
